Skipping on the LTE, HD IPS screen or dual-processor is usually not a recipe that will land your phone on the pages of Engadget. But, these LG-LU2700Ss are not just any unspectacular flip phone. The handset has been specially modified for use by the blind and visually impaired. The manual is printed in braille and, rather than require the constant mashing of buttons, the phone is controlled primarily through voice commands. 2,000 of the devices were given away as part of the company's donation program. Now if only they would mass produce them, LG would earn some serious cred.

Not only will Samsung’s Galaxy S III event see the company launch its latest flagship smartphone and its S-Cloud service, but the latest rumors suggest we may even see a new Galaxy Tab. CNET Asia cites an unnamed source in reporting that the South Korea-based manufacturer will unveil a new 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab to complement its latest handset. The tablet will reportedly include a dual-core processor, and will not be the Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1), which was recently rumored to be getting a quad-core upgrade. Additional details are scarce, but but perhaps we’ll finally see Samsung unveil the high-definition slate we were hoping to see at Mobile World Congress.

Apple began running out of pre-order iPad inventory less than 24 hours after pre-sales first began. Now, it looks like all of Apple’s initial iPad stock has been depleted. The company’s online store currently shows an estimated ship date of March 19th for every available iPad model, including the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB Wi-Fi models and each of the three iPad Wi-Fi + 4G versions for AT&T and Verizon Wireless. Apple unveiled the new iPad this past Wednesday at a press conference in San Francisco. The latest version of the wildly popular tablet features a Retina Display, a dual-core Apple A5X processor, an improved 5-megapixel camera and a slightly redesigned case. Early pre-orders will become available on Friday, March 16th.

What if Samsung made a Galaxy Note, but instead of throwing a dual-core processor, a few megabytes (or gigabytes, whatever) of RAM, and random pieces of silicon between the front and rear covers, it included an undetermined amount of paper? What it we lived in a world where that type of activity was not only okay, but encouraged? What if the Note is actually the Notepad in a parallel universe? What if the aforesaid parallel universe is reality in Las Vegas, Nevada? Think about it.

Last summer, LG and Verizon Wireless released the Revolution, but the phone did little to revolutionize smartphones and after seven months it was chopped from the carrier’s lineup. According to Droid-Life, the follow-up to the Revolution is the LG Spectrum and it is heading to Verizon on January 19th. The Spectrum features superb specs with a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S3 processor, 1GB RAM, 4G LTE connectivity and a massive 4.5-inch HD display at 329ppi. Additionally, the device sports an 8-megapixel rear camera, a microSD slot, a 1.3-megapixel front facing camera and a 1,830 mAh battery. The Spectrum will launch with an exclusive HD ESPN ScoreCenter app and the HD Netflix app that is currently only found on the DROID RAZR. With the Consumer Electronics Show beginning next week, we fully expect to see the Spectrum unveiled within the next few days.

We know the high-end HTC Vigor exists, but we're still in the dark about its precise specs -- not least because a previous 'leak' turned out to be double Dutch. Now an Italian dude by the name of Fabio Mele reckons he's gotten hold of Verizon's ROM for the Vigor and extracted a ton of information, including tutorial videos (which yielded the render above) and key hardware credentials. And they're some credentials: a 4.3-inch screen with 720 lines of LG-rivalling HD craziness, a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, 1GB RAM and an 8MP rear camera. The reported ROM also contains HTC's much-hyped Beats Audio software, which we've experimented with on the Un-American Sensation XE. We're taking all this with a pinch of salt if you don't mind, Signor Mele, but we want to believe you, we really do.
[Thanks, Giuseppe]

HP’s TouchPad Go was recently approved by the the Federal Communications Commission, which revealed some information on the unannounced tablet. The webOS device could be equipped with a dual-core 1.5GHz processor and a 3G radio, which would indicate HP is looking to launch it with at least one U.S. carrier. We first heard word of a 7-inch TouchPad tablet in January of this year and the most recent rumors revealed that HP could launch the device this month. It is possible we’ll hear more about the TouchPad Go in the coming days, and we hope it gains more consumer traction than the original TouchPad, which just had its priced slash by $100 to make it more appealing.

We’re expecting Samsung to begin launching its flagship Galaxy S II handset in the United States any week now, and on Thursday a render of a white version of the device popped up online. Until recently, Samsung only offered a black hued model of the phone in Europe, but a number of retailers are beginning to stock the new white model pictured above. The Galaxy S II packs a dual-core processor, Samsung’s stunning Super AMOLED Plus screen, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the latest TouchWiz user interface and more. So far it has been Samsung’s fastest selling smartphone and 5 million units have already been shipped. Hopefully one of the U.S. carriers have this hue scheduled for launch because we’re definitely fawning over the milky color scheme.

The oft-leaked Motorola Droid 3 is dripping information yet again, this time over on Droid-Life where an internal flyer confirms it will be available at retail locations July 14th, with direct fulfillment orders (upgrade in-store, get the phone by mail) starting a week earlier. If that's somehow not enough, there's also a PDF copy of the manual available for download but if you watched the tutorial videos there's probably not much new information to be digested there. The one detail that continues to elude us however, is a confirmed price for Verizon's QWERTY slider w/ 1080p camera and dual core processor, but after all the early reveals we're sure you've had time to scrape together a suitable dowry.

Here’s the latest in a series of rumors about the iPhone 5: it may offer a dual-LED flash. Surely this seems like a minor upgrade to the single flash currently available, but if true, it definitely suggests that Apple is including a revamped camera with more robust capabilities. We’ve heard from sources that the new iPhone, which could launch as soon as this August, will be a major update with an entirely new case design. Other rumors have suggested the device will offer an 8-megapixel camera, a dual-core A5 processor, and possibly a larger display. DigiTimes suggests that the dual-LED flash will be provided by Everlight Electronics, Edison Opto and Lite-On Technology.

Hey Motorola, your unannounced phone is showing. The Droid X 2 is spending this morning hanging out on the bright and airy support pages of motorola.com, though you may also spot it sneakily listed alongside some compatible accessories on vzw.com as well. Yes, the leaks are now happening from official sources, too, indicating an imminent landing for what we've now confirmed to be a dual-core 1GHz smartphone with qHD resolution on a 4.3-inch display. Those long-rumored specs were revealed by the Droid X 2's full user guide, which Moto has kindly provided for us at the link below. So thoughtful!
[Thanks, 3vil]

HTC is expected to release the HTC Sensation — formerly known as the Pyramid — later today, and those suspicions were all but confirmed by the anxious folks over at Vodafone. In an early morning snafu, the company outed HTC’s 4.3-inch, touchscreen beast in all its glory. So what are we looking at? Glad you asked. The Sensation will sport a qHD, SLCD display that, as we’ve already mentioned, measures 4.3-inches on the diagonal. Sitting behind that formidable window will be a dual-core, 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor, 4GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, 8 megapixel rear-facing camera with dual LED flash, and a 1.2 megapixel front-facing camera. The handset will also be running the new and improved Sense user experience. You don’t have to take our word for it, there is a trio of leaked videos awaiting your scrutiny after the break.

Well, it looks like there's some good news and some bad news for those holding out for a
Samsung Galaxy S II.
GSM Arena is reporting that Samsung has decided to upgrade the phone's dual-core processor from
1GHz to 1.2GHz, something that was first revealed on Samsung Estonia's Facebook page and has apparently be confirmed by
GSM Arena itself from an "internal source." The bad news is that it seems you'll also have to deal with a bit of a delay. Some UK retailers are now listing a release date of May 6th, while Samsung India has tweeted that the phone's global launch has been delayed by "at least" a month, and that it won't roll out before June.
P.S. There's no indication as to how this upgrade will affect the Tegra 2 version of the phone, which was confirmed to be on track last month.
[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

The gang over at XDA Developers have acquired several new images of the unannounced and unreleased HTC Pyramid Android handset. The site’s intel seems to confirm what has been rumored for several months: this device is going to be a beast. The Pyramid will boast a 4.3-inch qHD display with a 960 x 54o pixel resolution, dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 768MB of RAM, 8 megapixel rear-facing camera, Wi-Fi b/g/n, and will run Gingerbread (Android 2.3.3) with Sense 3.0 (the same version that will be running on the EVO 3D). No word on when and where this Herculean handset will hit store shelves… but we’re hoping sooner rather than later. Hit the jump to see a few more images.

CTIA snooping is in full swing today, as the HTC EVO 3D has seen its major specs divulged courtesy of a document within the exhibition halls of the show. True to our initial scoop and subsequent spec leak, we're looking at a 3D-capable successor to the EVO 4G, this one rocking a 1.2GHz dual-core processor (Qualcomm's MSM8660), a 4.3-inch qHD ( 960 x 540) display, dual 5 megapixel cameras around back, and the sweet, sweet promise of 1080p video playback. That's constrained to 720p for viewing 3D content, but there's no denying this new Sprint smartphone's shaping up to be yet another multimedia powerhouse. Specs of the EVO View tablet have also been snapped, marking it as indeed a Sprint rebadge of HTC's 1.5GHz, 7-inch Flyer tablet. Look for both to become official at Sprint's presser later this week.
EVO 3D specs confirmed: 1080p 2D video, 720p 3D, dual cameras, 1.2GHz dual-core CPU originally appeared on Engadget on Mon, 21 Mar 2011 20:05:00 EDT. Please see our terms for use of feeds.
