Blu & Exile: She Said It’s OK [Video]

Monday, February 27th, 2012

Blu & Exile's Below the Heavens makes me miss 2007. No special reason—it wasn't that great a year, really—but it was a super-intelligent, emotionally honest album that just wedged itself exactly in that year for me. Weirdly, Give Me My Flowers While I Can Still Smell Them, which was recorded in 2009, and released this last December, puts me in that same place. It's a good place. More »

Cut The Rope Drops In Hearts & Flowers For Valentine’s Day [Apps]

Thursday, February 10th, 2011

The very popular iOS game Cut The Rope is the latest to launch a cutesy Valentine's Day special, with 25 new pink-ish levels now included in the version 1.2 update. It comes with a Valentine-themed icon, which maker Chillingo suggests is "ideal for gifting the game to a loved one". Ideal, that is, if your gift budget is $0.99 and you're mostly lying about loving them. [iTunes via Into Mobile] More »

Acroban: the childlike robot you want to punch (video)

Friday, July 30th, 2010

We see a lot of robots around here. But few can evoke emotion without resorting to a doe-eyed visage or plush, Dough-Boy bodice. That's what makes Acroban so interesting. Dispensing with the cheap parlor tricks, Acroban still comes across as child-like, playful, seemingly dependent upon your care and guidance. Cute, even though it's a quivering mass of aluminum, wire, and servos with a questionable taste in headwear. Doesn't mean you won't punch it in the pie hole now and again just to show it who's boss -- it is a murderous robot after all. See what we mean after the break.

“It’s time to share” Microsoft hosting event April 12th

Monday, April 5th, 2010

Microsoft Logo SmallOh, it is a lovely time of year isn’t it? The flowers are a bloomin’, the birds are a singin’, and the phone OS’ are a developin’. Today, Microsoft sent out an announcement for an April 12th media event with the simple tag-line: “It’s time to share.” Media outlets suspect the disclosure of the project “Pink” Microsoft has been working on, but we’ll just have to wait and see.  Apple on the 8th, Microsoft the 12th. Life’s good.

Wind-Sensitive LED Dandelion Dress Is Made for Pretty Night Fairies [Led]

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

I like this dress embroidered with dandelion lights. Called Flare, it was created by designer Stijn Ossevoort. The LED flowers glow up gently when the wind or your breath touches them, causing much swooning and sighing in the process.

Less spectacular than the Galaxy Dress, but classier. [Fasioningtech via Bornrich]

Russian Casemod Freak Builds a Miniature Living Room Inside His PC [Casemods]

Saturday, October 3rd, 2009

Because the one sentence written about this miniature-living-room-inside-a-PC-case was composed in Russian, i'll just say this—whoever created it is awesome, but they might also be a serial killer.

There's a painstaking amount of detail inside the scene, including intricate housewares such as a vase, flowers, the newspaper, and a gumball machine (?!). Anyone with this much time on their hands must also spend hours thinking of the perfect way to get away with murder.

But I do love how the circuit board nearly blends in as wallpaper if you don't pay close attention. I'd like to see this turn into a trend...I think. [Modding.ru via Technabob]
