Apple's newest iPad could be making a trek over to the Orient very soon, if this latest regulatory filing is any indication. As recently as last week, China's Quality Certification Center granted that Cupertino slate -- bearing model number A1416 -- its seal of approval, paving the way for a retail debut in the region. If and when it does make it to official sales channels, expect that particular unit to be of the WiFi-only variety, as additional clearance is necessary for network-enabled variants. Despite an ongoing trademark scuffle over Chinese ownership of the iPad moniker, the company is expected to carry on with business as usual, adding to its near 70 percent domination of the tablet category in that region.

The Samsung R760 has been tossed around as the likely model number of US Cellular's upcoming Galaxy S II, and it's just cleared one more hurdle: the FCC. While this doesn't guarantee that the carrier will indeed get its own flavor of the GSII anytime soon, it's just another piece of evidence to consider. For anyone hopeful that this could've become the Skyrocket or Galaxy S II LTE, we're shooting down your dream -- the FCC docs don't indicate the presence of LTE, which means this will not be the mysterious smartphone slated to launch in April.

Just yesterday, US Cellular let it be known on Twitter that its first LTE smartphone would arrive in April. Now, we've a rather strong indication that the device in question will be from Samsung, known internally as the SCH-R930. Previously outed by Pocketnow in September as a US Cellular device, the handset has just made its way through the FCC -- and yes, it has LTE support in tow. While the Belief Network currently lacks a top-tier Samsung smartphone, the model number indicates we may be looking at a clone of the clone of the Galaxy Indulge. Here's hoping for something a bit less stale.

What you're looking at above is a render of Option Wireless' XYfi mobile broadband hotspot; currently being reviewed by the folks over at the FCC. Dawning the model number GI0643, the XYfi packs quad-band 2G and tri-band 3G GSM radios -- complete with UMTS, HSDPA and HSUPA goodness. The filing doesn't clue us in on which network (if any) will be carrying the XYfi, but it does indicate that your WiFi-enabled peripherals will be able to connect via 802.11b/g/n. The request letter was submitted this past July, but now that it's in the public's view, it ought not be too long before you find the unit gracing a store shelf. One burning question remains: who let Motorola Mobility's marketing team name this thing?

Sony Ericsson doesn’t have much of a presence in the United States smartphone market right now. Sure, it released the Xperia PLAY for Verizon Wireless and AT&T earlier this year, but it didn’t make much of a splash. Sony Ericsson’s U.S. position could change soon, though, if it decides to pump out a bunch of high-end smartphones. The latest rumor suggests that the company could release a phone with the model number “LT28at” that will land on AT&T later this year. It reportedly packs a number of impressive specs, including support for AT&T’s 4G LTE network as well as a 13-megapixel camera, a 4.55-inch Reality Display with a 1280 x 720-pixel resolution and a front-facing HD camera for video chats. The details come simply from a Bluetooth “End Product List” (EPL), which may or may not be legitimate, but we’re definitely hoping AT&T and Sony Ericsson announce something big during the Consumer Electronics Show next month.

Well, what do we have here? Looks like the Commission's "surgeons" got their rubber-gloved mitts on Espoo's pretty in pink (or is that purple?) Asha 201. Bearing the model number RM-800, the filing for this low-end, Series 40 handset made for emerging markets does a lot of showing, but not much telling. The report's chock full of testing photos and even the device's user manual. But, aside from Bluetooth, there's nary a hint of the radios onboard. No matter, we know this Easy Swap-less portrait QWERTY's headed for an around the world GSM tour in myriad colors. Feel free to rubberneck the exposed internals at the source link below.

Just because next week's joint Samsung and Google event has been postponed doesn't mean the leaks have to end. A Sammy handset with the model number I9250, which matches up nicely with the baseband version in the Galaxy Nexus shots that popped up, just made an appearance at the FCC packing a GSM radio compatible with AT&T and T-Mobile's HSPA networks. It's also boasting dual-band 802.11n, Bluetooth and NFC. Despite suggestions that the next Nexus device would be a Verizon exclusive, we could be looking at the AT&T version or at least the unlocked GSM model. The fact that it doesn't support T-Mobile's 2100MHz band leads us to believe this won't be popping up in T-Mo shops. It appears that T-Mobile AWS is included. Noticeably missing, however, is any mention of LTE -- that particular feature could still be the sole realm of Big Red. Hopefully we won't have to wait much longer to find out all the details. See that? That just might be the cheaper iPhone that Apple's rumored to formally unveil on Tuesday. Gizmodo Brazil managed to get a hold of a purported iPhone 4s from within a Brazilian Foxconn factory, and while the hardware itself looks just about identical to the iPhone 4 that exists today, there's a new SKU that's leading to understandable speculation. The N90A model number that popped up has certainly emerged before, but where things really get interesting is the "reprovado" ("disqualified") labeling. Is this batch an early set of prototypes that didn't quite pass QA? Will the eventual iPhone 4s even look anything like the iPhone 4 that's on shelves today? You can bet we'll be on hand in Cupertino to find out, and there's no time like the present to clear out your Tuesday morning / afternoon / evening schedule (depending on time zone, of course) to find out with us.

Rumors that Apple plans to release an updated iPhone 4 model — referred to on tech blogs as the “iPhone 4S” — alongside the iPhone 5 this fall gained momentum on Thursday evening as images of purported iPhone 4S parts were published by MacRumors.com. The site says it received parts belonging to the iPhone 4S case from supplier iPatchiPods.com, an online iPhone and iPod repair shop. If these components are believed to be authentic, it appears as though the iPhone 4S will feature a redesigned antenna that may help alleviate attenuation resulting from the notorious “death grip.” In addition, MacPost published an image of what is purported to be the rear back from Apple’s upcoming iPhone 5. The redesigned white case back is said to be from a prototype device and it bears the model number “N94,” which we reported belongs to a forthcoming iPhone. MacPost also published several images of various supposed iPhone 5 parts we’ve already seen in the past. The image of the iPhone 5 rear cover and another image of the iPhone 4S antenna assembly follow below.

Last week, we exclusively reported that AT&T was planning to launch a variant of Samsung’s Galaxy S II with a full QWERTY keyboard. Well, we have good news and bad news: BGR learned on Friday from a trusted source that this handset is actually not the Samsung Galaxy S II that should soon make its way to AT&T. That’s the bad news — but it’s really not that bad. The good news is that this is an entirely separate smartphone that will be launching soon, which means Android fans on the nation’s No. 2 carrier now have two sleek Samsung smartphones to look forward to. The phone we leaked showed the model number SGH-i927, which was widely reported to be Samsung’s internal code number for the Galaxy S II ahead of launch. It looks like Samsung did some recycling with this smartphone, because test models currently carry the same model number. Also of note, the image above shows that the phone is running kernel version 2.6.36.3, which is actually a Honeycomb kernel rather than a Gingerbread kernel. We’re not sure what kind of game Sammy is playing here, but we’re now certain AT&T won’t be adding a QWERTY to the S II when it launches soon… alongside the sexy unnamed slider pictured above. Android is all about choice, and AT&T subscribers are about to have two pretty great new choices in the near future.

BGR has obtained exclusive images of AT&T’s upcoming Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone. Following our report on Monday showing an unnamed Samsung slider headed to AT&T, we have confirmed that the device pictured is indeed a variant of Samsung’s blockbuster Galaxy S II headed to AT&T. Live images of the device reveal the Galaxy S II model number, SGH-I927, along with additional details surrounding the sleek Gingerbread phone. While it appears as though Samsung managed to keep AT&T’s Galaxy S II relatively slender in spite of adding on a full sliding QWERTY keyboard, the textured back cover on the phone looks like a bit of an eyesore. The Galaxy S II is already the fastest-selling Samsung smartphone of all time, and it has yet to launch on a single carrier in the U.S. market. While U.S. carrier versions of the smartphone are expected to arrive in August, release timing and pricing for the AT&T version pictured here are not yet available. It is also unclear whether the device will launch with the Galaxy S II moniker or with AT&T’s own branding as the original Galaxy S did. Several additional images, including a pair that shows off some very impressive benchmark test results, follow below.

Hello, and welcome to another edition of Mystery Cellphone Theater. This week's enigma comes to us courtesy of T Store, a Korean app market, where the Developer Center lists an unannounced Samsung device with the model number SHV-E120S. Now, we can't tell you much about the E120S, only that it reports to sport a WXGA screen (that's 1280 x 768), Gingerbread, and a single-core MSM8250 Snapdragon. Sammy has a Korea-only handset with the SHV-E110S tag and a more standard 800 x 480 screen, and the company has made no secret about its desire to push pixel density well beyond the 300ppi mark -- still, there's no guarantee this is in fact a phone. It very well may be a tablet, or just a strange report from an emulator. Regardless, we're intrigued, and keeping our fingers crossed for 4.3-inch HD display.

Last month, a device (model number HSTNH-F30CN) that we surmised to be a Pre 3 hit the FCC rocking AT&T band GSM radios. Now, its brother HSTNH-F30CV is seeking federal approval to ride CDMA (850 / 1900 MHz), UMTS (900 / 2100 MHz), and GSM (850 / 900 / 1800 / 2100 MHz) wireless waves. With that "V" tagged on the end of the model moniker and its Verizon-friendly innards, it sure looks like the Pre 3 will be the next handset to wear a checkmark on its front. Additionally, those world wide bands tell us that a webOS device will soon be joining the Androids and Blackberrys in Big Red's rather limited lineup of global handsets.
