My left wrist grinds like a cement mixer thanks to my numerous automotive altercations while riding at night and is a testament to the importance of proper visibility. With the Supaheroe cycle jacket, you'll be visible from space—or at least three car-lengths. More »

It seems like facial recognition is popping up everywhere these days, and now it's even on Hulu. We last checked in with Hulu Labs when it launched a ten-foot UI for PC viewers, and now it's back putting clickable squares on every actor's face that immediately pull up their background info, as seen above. So far, the feature is only set up for a few episodes of Glee, The Office, Wilfred, Modern Family and Lost, and it's completely optional, look for a newer show and punch the settings button to turn it on. It pulls info from Wikipedia, lists some of the actor's biggest roles and even links to Facebook and Twitter accounts in some cases. While its easy to use, on a PC it feels a bit like overkill (with IMDB and Google always a click away how much time are we saving?) but it worked effectively in the episode of The Office we watched -- US residents can take a peek at it embedded after the break.

Blockbuster may have had its share of trouble here in the States, but that doesn't mean its British brother isn't doing well enough to have (and leak) a big-shot release date or two. According to a flyer brandishing the Blockbuster logo and that good 'ol co.uk extension, the PlayStation Vita will land in the United Kingdom on October 28th. That's ominously close to Halloween -- not that we're suggesting anybody is having pre-holiday PSV boot-shakes, or anything -- and the flyer's fall release prediction squares up nicely with Sony's "end of 2011" launch window. As always, we suggest taking rumors and leaks such as this with a grain of salt -- but considering Sony's sinkable record regarding loose lips, we'd understand a low sodium approach. Hit the break to get a peek at the Blockbuster UK flyer -- ready and waiting for your judgement.

So, here's what we know: a Windows Phone from HTC just earned its FCC wings, it's production (meaning non-prototype) hardware... and it's a CDMA device. That alone is notable considering that Microsoft has said that CDMA won't be available until the first half of next year, and here we are in October with an FCC-approved, production-ready device waiting in the wings already. We're not the type to be floating conspiracy theories, but could it be that we're dealing with an artificial delay here, or is the CDMA software stack really that far away from being solid? Anyhow, if we had to guess, this is probably the tilt-sliding 7 Pro, seeing how that's the only CDMA Windows Phone 7 device to bow so far, equipped with 802.11b / g / n alongside Bluetooth + EDR. Sprint, let's make this happen.

As far as we here at BGR are concerned, once a product is physically in store it’s good to be sold regardless of whatever the squares at corporate may think about it and its designated street date. In the spirit of this (and because it’s an admittedly slow Sunday), today we’ve got a few videos of a T-Mobile HTC HD2 that YouTube user JDMiPhoner managed to snag at a Vancouver, WA Walmart a few days ahead of it’s March 24th street date. He decided to post a series of hands on videos which cover the unboxing, first boot up and configuration, app overview and a demo of voice commands. Excited? Good, because we’ve gone through the trouble of queuing them up after the break for your viewing pleasure.
P.S. If you can’t get enough of the HD2, you can check out an unboxing of it courtesy of one of our connects.
Thanks, to everyone that hit us up!

Without warning or explanation, non-functional QR codes began appearing on random Facebook profiles earlier this week. After a few days of speculation, a new rumor has surfaced to give meaning to these scannable boxes of black and white squares. According to the latest leaked information, the QR codes will reportedly play a role in Facebook’s upcoming mobile application which will utilize codes for a new location-based service. Similar to and perhaps even in conjunction with Gowalla and Foursquare, these QR codes would let you check-in at businesses, like your local pub or favorite restaurant, and alert your Facebook friends to your location. Much of the success of this program hinges on the average Facebook user’s ability to understand and utilize QR code technology which, after the whole ReadWriteWeb login debacle, is highly questionable. Additional information on this new QR code-drive, location-based service is expected at Facebook’s f8 conference scheduled for the end of April.

I'm not sure if a dress composed of a few dozen dragon skin silicone tiles—each infused with an LED light—is the most comfortable or practical thing to wear, but it sure does create all kinds of possibilities.
Designed by Elizabeth Fuller for the NYU's ITP Winter Show, the Life Dress is fully programmable, meaning that you can step out to your fancy parties with the pattern or message of your choice writ large by the LEDs embedded in your clothing. The unlit squares are also a bit translucent, which in the right (or wrong) places could send the strongest message of all. [ITP Winter Show]
